Details

Prussion Model 1809 musket converted from flint to percussion. Calibre .71 smoothbore. Forend cap is fitted with an unusual spring clip for attaching a socket bayonet. US Government purchased a number of these in 1861 for use in the Civil War. Reportedly used by both sides, but primarily the North. This is the same arm as the German Potsdam musket. Condition of this specimen is only good and would be suitable for display but not for shooting without some restoration.
