Appears to be a presentation round, very heavy because it is not finished, not fully hollowed out internally. Chrome plated and engraved First Order March 26 1915. Shipment July 1915, Changed T.4.5 April 1916. No Completed 38379. Assume this message to mean the plant that manufactured these converted from 18 pdr production to 4.5 inch howitzer production in April 1916 and completed a total of 38,379 of the 18 pdr shells prior to that date. Very interesting period dated item from WWI armaments production.
