    Belgian M1889 Mauser bayonet Hopkins & Allen made RARE
    For the Belgian 1889 Mauser rifle and carbine. Very good plus condition bright finished fullered blade, 15 3/4 inches (40cm) long, with American maker's name HOPKINS & ALLEN, ARMS Co, Norwich Conn, U.S.A. on ricasso. Bright finished pommel, crossguard, quillon and muzzle ring. Wooden grips in excellent condition secured with two Belgium type screws. No scabbard. On August 4, 1915, Hopkins & Allen secured a contract for 140,000 bayonets. However Hopkins & Allen went bankrupt in 1916 so only a small number were produced and delivered. Total is unknown. That is also the reason this bayonet is seldom found with a scabbard.

    Original Belgian World War One bayonet for use with the 7.65mm Model 1899 Mauser rifle and carbine. Slender double edge bayonet is uniquely Belgian. Manufactured from 1916 to 1924 at Manufacture D'Armes de le Etat (State Arms Manufacturer) Liege and marked with an "L" inside a square at the pommel. Muzzle ring is the larger 17.5mm diameter for the early Mauser rifle and carbine. Will not fit the later 1924, 24/30 and 1930 rifles and carbines. Blade is 448mm, overall 569mm with double sided blade. Very good condition including original steel scabbard. An uncommon bayonet.

    Beautiful double edge Roman pattern spear point blade with short fuller and leather washer at cross guard. Blade marked ENFIELD and Crown over VG and has a crowned inspector's mark. The Pattern 1848 is commonly called the 2nd Model and has later version release button. Original VG condition, nicely marked and proofed with unit marking at pommel. Brass cross guard and handle with (British) unit marking of A over 2 over BR at pommel. Missing catch button, easily made by new owner.
