Yataghan curved blade has fullers on both sides The 1860 bayonet is for the Snider short rifle or Sergeant's pattern rifle with bar on barrel mounting. Scabbard is in EXCELLENT condition. Frog is the heavy leather Boer War type in EXCELLENT condition, regimentally marked TE 87, the only blemish being a minor cutout on the back as shown in photo. No markings on this bayonet except for an “L” at the pommel. No oil hole in grip or pommel. There is some pitting on the exposed metal parts as shown in the photos. Blade is VG. Scabbard is light brown home guard type with integral chape built into the leather tip. Since these scabbards were made to be used with a slip-on belt frog there is no frog stud on the locket. An example of the bewildering variation of bayonets used on light infantry weapons of the American wars era. Appears to be a Brown Bess pattern bayonet scaled down to be much shorter than standard patterns which means it was likely used on carbine length firearms such as a Brown Bess carbine, British Light Infantry carbine or Dragoon Fusil. Blade is 300mm, overall length 370mm. Socket 76mm long, and diameter 20.5mm at front. Blade width 23.4mm. Only markings on ricasso are partial that looks like RIDE over a G.
