    British Pattern 1888 bayonet trench knife
    A damaged P1888 Mk 1 bayonet that would have been used on the Lee Metford or Long Lee Mk 1 rifles, damaged by having pommel broken off then cut down and resharpened for use as a trench knife, likely Great War vintage. Nice original markings remain on ricasso with an unusually prolific number of proof changes. Very interesting artifact.

    Lee Metford Mark 1 Type 2 Pattern 1888 style blade with 2 brass rivets in handle and oil hole above. Blade EXCELLENT, original, unsharpened and nicely marked. Regimentally marked on pommel TE 62. Scabbard is in EXCELLENT condition. Frog is the heavy leather Boer War type in EXCELLENT condition, regimentally marked TE 87, the only blemish being a minor cutout on the back as shown in photo. Premium bayonet for the advanced collector.

    Wilkinson manufactured bayonet dated October 1890 (10 90). Matching numbers on bayonet and scabbard. Canadian Oliver 1916 Pattern leather frog dated 1923 with “C broad arrow” and maker marked J.E. Lortie a Montreal leather and webbing company still in business today as JELCO. Blade is very good plus and has never been sharpened.

    Maker marked MOLE. Original date of manufacture 1896 with proofed change in 1906. Issued to Army Service Corps, A.S.C. marked. Has original Canadian C broad arrow marked tan leather frog. The strap is separated beneath the buckle, not noticeable on display. The scabbard has unusual brass mounting instead of the commonly seen steel mounting.

    British Pattern 1888 Volunteer/Commercial Model Bayonet
    No markings on this bayonet except for an “L” at the pommel. No oil hole in grip or pommel. There is some pitting on the exposed metal parts as shown in the photos. Blade is VG. Scabbard is light brown home guard type with integral chape built into the leather tip. Since these scabbards were made to be used with a slip-on belt frog there is no frog stud on the locket. Missing one staple but scabbard otherwise in good condition.

    First model bayonet made by Gebr. Weyersberg, Solingen. This is an export bayonet and has GERMANY lightly engraved in the opposite ricasso using electric pencil. Blade is clean without dings or corrosion. Grips are in very good condition. Steel mounted leather scabbard is in good condition with stitching coming apart. This bayonet was made for the Remington Danish Rolling Block rifle. The first model bayonet has a flat spring actuated locking lug.

    Dutch M1895 Rifle Bayonet
    Dutch Model 1895 bayonet shortened to a blade length of 250mm (9 7/8 inch). Scabbard shortened also. This may be a Seitengewehr 102 rifle bayonet shorted by order after Germany occupied The Netherlands in 1940. Specifications called for the blade and scabbard to be shortened to 280mm and called the M1895 rifle bayonet for the Mannlicher rifle. The Germans called it the Seitengewehr 102 (h). Although the blade length is not exactly 280mm it is carefully repointed and the scabbard shortened and modified to refit the bayonet.

Blade is drop forged, hand ground. Blade has been sharpened to 6 1/8 inch length. Absolutely no etching remaining. No scabbard. Very good example of an original working knife that has clearly been to war.
