Overall showing significant pitting and corrosion on the exposed parts - muzzle ring, scabbard, but the blade is remarkably clean. Catch does not work. This bayonet has undoubtedly seen use and is properly called a battlefield pickup.

    Original, marked J. Sch (Jetter und Scheerer) and dated 1938. Scabbard is asw 41, in very good condition but not matching the bayonet. Blade is very good. Minor tapping marks on the pommel. Crossguard and ricasso show signs of a combination of minor corrosion and powder buildup indicative of firing the rifle with the bayonet attached.

    Uncommon maker J.Sch. marked for Jetter & Scheerer, Tuttingen, dated 1940 on spine of blade. Low serial number. Clear Eagle over 655 waffenamt stamps on pommel. Matching marking on scabbard both serial number and maker. Bakelite grips are in very good condition. Pommel area on one side has several tapping marks as if used as a hammer to hang signs.

    German 98k bayonet Kriegsmarine marked
    Horster manufactured, 1938 dated. Maker marking should be E.u.F Horster but the E. is not visible and the last 2 letters of Horster have likewise been obliterated. Serial number on crossguard has Kriegsmarine “O” prefix for Ostsee and a “P” suffix indicating that this is a reworked bayonet from WWI or the late 1920’s. No scabbard.
