  1. BA571 Martini Henry 1853/71 early socket bayonet

Martini Henry 1853/71 early socket bayonet
This is the Pattern 1853 socket bayonet bushed for the Martini Henry rifle. Blade length is 17 5/8 inches. It is shorter than the 1876 pattern and the bushing sweated into the sock is evident. Complete with scabbard in good condition with stitching intact but wear to the brass chape. Blade is good with minor dings and a grey patina. Some spots of rust on the socket are pictured. This bayonet would have been used on the early Martini Henry rifles before the 1876 pattern was widely available.

  11. BA1027 Norwegian 1894 short bayonet capture with badge

Norwegian 1894 short bayonet capture with badge
Very interesting and researchable bayonet. Norwegian 1894 bayonet made for Krag rifles in 6.5mm that would have been in use by German Volksturm troops late in WWII. The bayonet is quite possibly captured by an Irish Regiment and has the cap badge of the Royal Ulster Rifles carved into the wooden grip. The bayonet has original patina, blade and scabbard numbers match and the scabbard is a very unusual configuration with what looks like period personal marking on the leather belt loop. Blade nicely marked with Norwegian cypher. Included is a real Royal Ulster Rifles cap badge.

During WW One the USA helped Britain by manufacturing arms and equipment including this Remington manufactured bayonet Pattern 1913 to fit the British P14 rifle. The two cuts on the wooden grips are to differentiate this bayonet from the similar looking Pattern 1907 (for the SMLE rifle) as they are not interchangeable. Marked 1913 for model with maker Remington in circle. Date of manufacture 10-17. British proofs over A for American inspection. Marks are stroked out and US added indicating that it may have been diverted for use on the US P17 rifle. Scabbard is British style.
