British Sterling SMG bayonet

Very similar design to the No. 5 (Jungle Carbine) bayonet, in fact identical except for a few manufacturing changes, and unmarked. This is a later example of that bayonet using the L1A1 blade design with steel grips. This is an early version with the grips fastened by screws instead of being riveted to the tang as in later examples. Black paint on the metal grips. H and C cast into the pommel indicate manufacture by Hopkinson, a British maker of Sterling bayonets. Blade is parkerized. Later commercial examples have a bright blade with STERLING etched into the blade.
