Clandestine U.S. 30M2 (30-06) Ammo

Original bandoleer of 60 rounds in stripper clips with cardboard sleeves. Manufactured for CIA covert operations by the St. Louis Ordnance Plant in 1953. Collectors refer to this ammo as the “Bay of Pigs” rounds due to their use in the failed Cuban invasion in April 1961, however they were ordered with no specific project in mind well before this event. Headstamp is similar to many East European military manufacturers. A very interesting Cold War item.
