German WWII Glasmine 43

Original Glasmine 43 used as anti-personnel mine by the Germans during World War II. Made of glass, with minimal metal reduced the chance of detection by mine detectors used by the Allies. The mine consists of a glass bowl, 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter containing an explosive charge and a detonator. The top of the mine has a thin glass disk under a thick, molded glass pressure plate. Mines were supplied with a small quantity of cement putty to seal gaps between the main body and the glass disk cover and make the mine waterproof but naturally this does not come with that component. These had a very short late war production period and are quite rare. Interesting, insidious and very researchable.
