    Austrian 1916 Stick grenade
    Very uncommon grenade. Austrian M-16, smooth tube, cast iron canister or pipe type grenade. The M-16 employed a cardboard handle that had an internal pull string fuze. The Austrian M-16 applied a narrow wire handle to the top of the grenade to be utilized by the troops to carry the grenade on their belt. The explosive head of the M-16 weighed 1.2 kilograms and employed metal balls internally mixed with the explosive material.
    The cardboard handle is gone and there are no internals to the grenade head. Completely inert.

    Called the Zeitzunder Gewergranate this was a time fuzed rod grenade fired from a rifle during World War One. This model is the first variant heavily serrated fragmentation grenade. Remarkably complete except for the pull igniter. Rod appears original. Empty and inert. Shown inserted into Steyr 1895 rifle for illustration only, rifle is not included.

    German 1914 Rifle Grenade fuze (fuse)
    VG+ original and complete (totally inert) fuze assembly for the Imperial German Karabingranate M 1914. This fuze represented new techology for the Germans as a true percussion fuze with inertia arming system. It is supplied with the very rare two pronged safety pin which was removed prior to inserting into the grenade to arm it. Two reference images have been attached to this listing to clarify the fuze positioning.

    The German Model 1914 rod grenade was a very advanced ordnance item for the era. It has a complicated and well made nose fuze as well as a cup shaped ranging disk on the launching rod. The nose fuze is very advanced yet simple to use. The safety pin is removed from the fuze, screwed into the grenade and it’s ready to launch from a rifle. The ranging disk has 3 positions to determine the distance of travel. This specimen is the grenade body only with a cap where the nose fuze screws in. Very interesting WWI artifact. Rod grenades were replaced by cup discharger grenades in 1917.

    Original segmented fragmentation sleeve slides over the cannister of the German M24 (potato masher) grenade and is held in place by clip shown in photo. This specimen has been excavated, as many were, and evidence of pitting is on interior of sleeve. Only one of the three attachment clips has survived.

    Designated a Nebelhandgranate (Smoke Hand Grenade) this model was created in 1939. This is the (b) variant with scalloped edges on the handle and a white band on the canister to aid identification at night. The holes in the bottom of the canister allow the smoke to escape when ignited. Very good original condition with marking visible on wooden handle and paint markings on canister. Has ceramic ball. Empty and inert. Uncommon to see these available.
