German 1914 Rod Grenade Body

The German Model 1914 rod grenade was a very advanced ordnance item for the era. It has a complicated and well made nose fuze as well as a cup shaped ranging disk on the launching rod. The nose fuze is very advanced yet simple to use. The safety pin is removed from the fuze, screwed into the grenade and it’s ready to launch from a rifle. The ranging disk has 3 positions to determine the distance of travel. This specimen is the grenade body only with a cap where the nose fuze screws in. Very interesting WWI artifact. Rod grenades were replaced by cup discharger grenades in 1917.
