Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk III* Peddled Scheme SMLE

An uncommon rifle manufactured under the so called Peddled Scheme 1915 to 1918 to expand rifle production in the UK during the Great War. The Peddled Scheme project is detailed by Skennerton in his Lee Enfield books. This specimen has typical markings associated with that program. 1917 dated receiver. Barrel is 1918 hence serial number does not match the receiver, nor does the bolt. A scarce WW 1 Lee Enfield variation.
