Royal Yugoslavian Army Dagger Model 1939

Stylized brass crown pattern pommel and “S” crossguard. Dark brown leather covered grip with twisted silver wire wrap. Plated double edged blade. Ricasso is marked Oficirska Zadruga in Crillic lettering (Officer’s Co-operative). Opposite side of ricasso etched with Royal Yugoslav double headed eagle. Metal scabbard has heavily embossed oak leaf pattern. Royal Yugoslav crest applied to upper scabbard fitting. These daggers were used in the short war against Germany in April 1941. After the fall of Yugoslavia the daggers were used by Croatian officers but the Yugoslav Eagle emblem was changed to Croatian. This uncommon dagger was only used for a short period of about 2 years before being altered.
